What is an urgent care?

Urgent care medical centers, like Advanced Urgent Care & Occupational Medicine in Colorado, fill an important gap in the medical community. Urgent cares bridge the gap between primary care providers and emergency departments.

Urgent cares are equipped to handle most minor illnesses and injuries. These centers have extended hours to complement the hours of your primary care physician’s office. Our clinics are open 7 days a week. That means we are open evenings and weekends to accommodate many work schedules.

If you’re on the go, or looking for the clinic closest to work or home, keep in mind that we have clinics across the Denver metro area. Stop by an urgent care clinic instead of the emergency room for non-life-threatening illness or injury.

Urgent care or ER?

Urgent cares treat most minor illnesses or injuries. Click here for a full list of what we treat. It is important to go to the ER if you are experiencing a life-threatening illness or injury including, but not limited to: chest pain, continuous bleeding, severe allergic reactions, severe shortness of breath, and more.

Keep in mind that the wait time is typically shorter at an urgent care than at the ER. While walk-ins are always welcome, Advanced Urgent Care also offers online reservations for same-day medical care. Reserving your spot will help you to avoid long wait times.

The average visit cost for an urgent care visit is $160, while the average cost of a visit to the ER is $400 to $2,000.

Much like the emergency departments, the urgent care is staffed with physician associates and nurse practitioners. A physician is also the medical director who oversees and ensures the utmost level of care.

When should I bring my child to an urgent care?

Advanced Urgent Care treats patients of all ages including infants. Many of the common pediatric illnesses we treat are: COVID, ear infection, upper respiratory infection, cough, sore throat, strep throat, RSV, and fever. Do you have a patient portal?

Yes, we have a patient portal. You can view health records, check test results, message your provider, and more!

Do you have Spanish-speaking employees or a translator service?

Yes, we have Spanish-speaking employees and we utilize a translator service.

Do you accept walk-ins? Why do you have a wait time?

Yes, we accept walk-ins and patients can reserve their spot online. Since we are a walk-in clinic, there are emergencies we have to prioritize. We also treat and diagnosis a variety of illnesses and injuries that may take longer to assess and treat.

Can I be seen without an ID? Which IDs do you accept?

If you do not have a driver's license to use as an ID, we also accept passports. If neither of those are available, we will need something with your picture and name on it for identification.

Can a 17 year old be seen without a minor consent form signed?

As of April 2023, any patient younger than 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. If another person is accompanying the minor, a minor consent form must be completed by the parent or legal guardian before the patient is seen. Click here to fill out the minor consent form.

Billing FAQs

Do urgent cares accept insurance? Which insurances do you take?

Yes, Advanced Urgent Care accepts most insurance plans including Medicaid and Medicare.

We offer a discount to patients who are uninsured and paying at the time of service.

What is the cost without insurance?

We offer a discount to patients who are uninsured and paying at the time of service. We have two pricing tiers: $165 or $250. Keep in mind that we also accept Care Credit as a form of payment.

Do you take Care Credit?

Yes, we accept Care Credit as a form of payment. Make sure to go to your Care Credit portal and select Advanced Urgent Care as a payer.

How do I pay my bill online?

If using a desktop computer, please click the "Pay Your Bill" button at the top of our website. If using your phone, the "Pay Your Bill" option is in the navigation menu.

What do urgent cares treat?

You can be seen at an urgent care for most minor illnesses and injuries. Some of our top-seen ailments include:

How much is a DOT physical?

DOT physicals are $85.

Do you do pre-op physicals?

We do not perform pre-op physicals. Please schedule a visit with a primary care provider.

Do you do stitches?

Yes, we can add and remove stitches/sutures. We can remove stitches even if you received them from another healthcare provider.

Do you provide online urgent care?

Yes, Advanced Urgent Care provides online urgent care. Known as a telehealth visit, you can be seen for these visits at home, work, or on the go. You'll meet with the provider on your smartphone, tablet, or computer. These visits are available 7 days a week.

Do I have to pay for a second visit if I have a telehealth visit and am asked to come to a clinic?

No, you will only pay for the telehealth visit so long as you come into the clinic the same day as your telehealth visit. If you come on a different day, you will be required to pay for a new visit.

Do you offer work comp follow-up visits?

At this time we only offer initial work comp visits. 

Do you have onsite x-ray?

Due to the staffing shortages for x-ray techs at this time, some of our clinics have onsite x-ray services. Otherwise, we refer to our nearest clinic to perform the x-ray.

How do I get test results if the test was in house or by an outside lab?

Curbside tests are facilitated through our partnership with Rapid Testing LLC. They will text/email you the results the same day as testing. If you need previous results, please call or text us at 303-659-9700.

If you were seen at one of our clinics by a provider and were tested during your visit, those results are available in your medical record or through the outside lab's online portal if the test was sent to an outside lab to be analyzed.

Do you do blood testing? Do you do blood testing for pregnancy?

It is up to the discretion of the provider if they will order blood testing, including pregnancy blood testing.

Do you have MRI, ultrasound, or a CT scan?

We apologize for any inconvenience, but we do not have onsite MRI, ultrasound, or CT scan.

Do you offer flu shots?

We do not offer flu shots at this time. Please schedule a flu shot with a primary care provider.

Do you remove or insert IUDs? Do you prescribe birth control?

We do not remove or insert IUDs, nor do we prescribe birth control. Please schedule with a primary care provider.
